Privacy without the mystery.

Japanese is designed so ordinary learning can happen locally on your device. This policy explains the limited cases where a platform or service processes data.

Who is responsible

Japanese is provided by Rocket Digital Limited. This policy applies to the Japanese mobile app, this website and support messages connected to the product. Contact us at hello@rocketdigital.ai with a privacy request or question.

Learning data stored on your device

Lesson progress, review schedules, mastery results, saved words, streaks, goals and learning preferences are stored locally. The app does not require a learning account. Local data remains on your device until you clear it, reset the app or remove the app, subject to any device backup you control.

App security and integrity

The app uses Firebase Core and Firebase App Check to help verify that protected app requests come from a genuine installation. Google may process technical information such as an app identifier, integrity token, IP address and basic device or request information for this security purpose. Japanese does not use Firebase Analytics for behavioural advertising or learner profiling.

Purchases and subscription access

Apple or Google processes payment and account information when you purchase Premium. RevenueCat helps the app retrieve available products, validate entitlement status and restore purchases. It may process a pseudonymous app user identifier, product and entitlement information, transaction status and related purchase metadata. Rocket Digital does not receive your full payment-card details.

Pronunciation and device services

Pronunciation uses the text-to-speech service available through your operating system. Availability and processing depend on the voices and settings installed on your device. The app does not send lesson messages to a generative-AI service.

Website and support information

This website does not set advertising cookies or run behavioural analytics. Like most websites, its hosting provider may process short-lived server logs containing an IP address, browser information, requested URL and time of access to deliver and secure the site. If you email support, we receive the address and information you choose to include, such as device details, screenshots or the Japanese text connected to a problem.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide purchased access, protect the app and website, answer support requests, investigate reliability or content problems, comply with legal obligations and improve the product using reports you choose to send. We do not sell personal information and do not use third-party advertising.

Legal bases and retention

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing is necessary to provide the product or support you request, protect the service through our legitimate interests, or meet a legal obligation. Support correspondence is retained only while reasonably needed to resolve the request and maintain an appropriate record. Store and entitlement records are retained by Apple, Google and RevenueCat under their own legal and operational requirements.

Service providers and international processing

Apple, Google, Firebase, RevenueCat and the website hosting provider act as service providers for the limited purposes described above. They may process information in countries outside your own and use safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

Your choices and rights

You can remove local learning data through the app or device controls, manage purchases through your app-store account and choose what to include in a support message. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing and to complain to a data-protection authority. Email us to exercise a right relating to information controlled by Rocket Digital.

Children

Japanese is a general language-learning product and is not directed to children under 13. If local law requires parental permission for a younger learner to use a digital service or make a purchase, that permission must be obtained through the relevant parent, guardian and platform account.

Security and policy changes

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the limited information we process, but no system can guarantee absolute security. If the product or its data practices change materially, this page and its update date will be revised before the change takes effect where required.
